As the group approached cave "B" you fought a band of orcs and were successful in defeating them on the ledge before entering the cave. You then entered! Is this cavern complex a band of orcs?
Now, before the group cleared and eliminated the orcs on the ledge of Cave "B" you previously eradicated all threats from Cave Complex "A". One section done!
What about the kobold Squeezilpop? Some liked him, some tolerated him, some distrusted him, and others want him dead! I don't know, but he seemed alright, and he's gotten a picture on the boards. Take a peek.
Keldor Speaks:
We have a task to accomplish in " clearing " these caves. However, that task does not require mindlessly killing unarmed creatures who have surrendered. I used my talents in diplomacy to negotiate with the kobold Squeezilpop, to take us through the kobold caves. This was done in good faith to ensure the safety of the group. In the long run, was the information he provided anything more than what we could have discovered on our own, probably not. However, I didn't want to take a chance from the stories that I heard from Taladel and Viceak. Yes, the kobold Squeezilpop, his plan is to find that red dragon, in hopes of being taken to another warren of kobolds. He shared this information directly with us. Is there a possibility that this could be bad for us, yes, but there is also the potential that because Squeezilpop was spared that he will potentially be friendly towards to group. Only time will tell.
I can't speak of the Orc situation, because we defeat the ones on the ledge. However, if I peaceful resolution could be achieved that does not risk the group, our resources, and provides us the benefit of information or insight, why not take it? Our task is to " clear out " these caves, not mindlessly kill every creature we encounter. That said if they want to fight then let's fight but let us do it smartly. I am sure many of the creatures here will not be will talk and will want to come to blows. Information is vital and key here, so if we can negotiate for some insight here what is the harm especially if it could ensure our overall success?
