So, as we continue to explore, we have come across a rather interesting situation. Angelicon! A supposed angel captured in a wall of stone behind a secret door requesting to be aided and released. What shall the group do? Most interesting and could be a HUGE ally or possible an evil entity released upon the world of Krinthius. If she is evil, would she, do you harm after being released or maybe even offer you a boon or reward and then go?
Warvok led tonight and next week another will. In the end the best shall be awarded the leadership of the group; the Gifted!
And here is Angelicon. Be careful in judging a picture, or should you?
Xandor Speaks: It would appear that the prudent course of action is to agree that this will be dealt with and mark it on the map to return to it once we have the proper tools to deal with such a challenge. So for now let us bury/hide/ seal up this relief statue to ensure that no one interacts with this entity. Perhaps our Holy Paladin and Cleric can pray to their gods (far away from the statue) and gain some insight on how to move forward as we explore other tunnels.
Pete Speaks:
Great job DM! Awesome twist and addition to classic hack n slash module. My recollection from 40+ years ago is battling old school monsters (Orcs, Bugbears, Goblins etc..) and having our own rooms in the Keep. We may be here until we reach 4-5th level. Lots of caves to explore and battles to be had!
Well glaze my War Hammer we got ourselves in a pickle. My heart is telling me to release this peculiar being from its imprisonment yet my mind is telling me to leave it be. Sacrificing a soul is not recognized as a law abiding deed. Torag, please provide your guidance and help me determine the best course of action.
Sean Speaks: I recall little of the original time that I played this module 34+ years ago. I do recall how it felt, the excitement of exploring a dungeon, the thrill of defeating different types of monsters, and the challenge of figuring out or avoiding the traps. I did remember that the old-school module was primarily a hack and slash adventure. I knew that John would work his magic and put in some mystery and intrigue, as well as, make this into a great story that would require more than combat skills and the ability to find traps; this story requires us to take risks and make decisions. We will need to use our "brains" to find some clues to figure out the challenges ahead. We all know that John never puts something in his adventure without a reason and there are always subtle clues. John, thank you for the amazing work you do each we to give us these awesome adventures that we will never forget.
Xandor Speaks:
Taladel you do bring up a great point no matter IF this is an Angel (good) or some demon or devil (evil), WE have to do something. Nothing says it has to be taken care of today! For we do not have all the tools at this moment to do so. This is a similar situation as that imprisoned undead that we left in Myth Drannor. For now, we should try to hide the statue so that no one comes behind us and tampers with the statue. We need some magic here that will allow us to see through the lies and misleading.. let us explore more of these tunnels. We did come away with a lot of coins perhaps we can eventually purchase a few items that will be able to assist us. We do have two holy people here a cleric and a paladin, perhaps they can pray on this for several days and gain some insight or guidance from their deties; preferably out of this cave and far from this statue so that it is unable to play its tricks and play its games. The only thing we need to do at this moment is to agree that this will be dealt with and mark it on the map to return back once we have the tools that we need to deal with such a challenge. Until then let us bury/hide/ seal up this relief statue to ensure none else tampers with this thing.
John you should have worked for TSR or WoTC
I'll be honest the mystery and intrigue have been created by me. It's a pretty straight forward hack and slash module but with a little ingenuity and experience it can be created into something special that you expect! That's my job and I'm happy to see you are feeling it so far Dan. This bas relief situation was completely created by me and is not in the module. That passage in the module was empty 😉.
This adventure is no joke. I feel we have definitely had to use as much "brain power" as we had with our combat abilities. I actually kind of figured. Since it was an old school module. That it would be just all hack and slash. And that has definitely not been the case. I look forward to many more challenges, that are ahead for this adventure. God I Love this game. Wednesday cant come quick enough.
DM Speaks:
As you can see from the map there are many more caves to be explored. You have just cracked the egg, but have yet to season, fry and eat it. Much more ahead with different creatures and encounters. Be prepared for battle and danger as the borderland caves hold many, many threats.
And for an XP bonus this week for reading my babblings which I hope all do, simply say "RATS" at the game this week. This will offer an immediate 50 XP bonus! Do and say it as you'd like. Just make sure I hear it for the immediate 50 XP bonus!
Taladel speaks:
If there is an angel that needs our assistance, at least I must do so and free this celestial spirit from its prison. My concern is that I would not be able to feel any potential evil from beyond its prison....this is a real risk of unleashing something terrible on our world.
But either way this cannot be ignored.....if it is good, we must free it. If evil, we must destroy it...If not today...then it falls on our destiny!
That picture doesnt make me want to be near it. This is a tough one. Its says it an angel. But do we believe it. Someone said the voice told them about donating a persons soul or something. That doesnt sound angelic at all. But taladel never picked up evil, from it. But maybe his power doesnt work through stone. As for leader, everyone. Got a tough spot to try and fill after me. Espically if we are basing it on the" fat booty " we recieved. While under my leadership.
