DM Speaks:
WOW, what a surprise as Xar' Zin says he's leaving the group. A much needed and trusted ally has decided he is heading back to Menzoberranzan? Is this worrisome? Why is he heading back? Should he be allowed? Many worries arise from this.
The group still needs to head forward to the Abbey of the Reflecting Mind to see why there have no longer been slaves delivered to Menzoberranzan. There has been an understanding and agreement with the Abbey for these ongoing slaves but of late none have come!
The group has started their journey to the Abbey but on their way encountered a Green Skinned creature called a Jackal. The group was able to defeat this creature. Afterwards the group needed to defend themselves against a Young Minotaur. He was only medium sized but was still a challenge.
We start next week making our way to the Abbey of the Reflecting Mind.
Linli Speaks:
OK, I am sad to see Xar' Zin go but we have some serious work ahead of us. THE ABBEY OF THE REFLECTING MIND! I'm gathering that we will deal with ones of divine power without question. Ones, that can heal their wounds and battle on. Ones that can cause us damage through their cause/cure spells. Most worrisome is their possibility of calling forth minions of their worship to aid them in battle.
I speculate on most of this but feel the Abbey must be taken over by ones of unholy worship or even holy worship of another faith. I think we must be prepared for this type of adversary.
Xar'Zin Speaks; (calmly and clearly) Do not mistake my departure for an outburst of temper; it is not anger that drives me, but clarity. You deserve to undertake this mission with those you trust implicitly, without second-guessing your allies. I would not see your judgment clouded by doubt, not of me, nor of your own instincts. When you return, if you find it within yourself to permit my return as well, we shall speak then. You will find me at the bar.
I am returning to Menzoberranzan for several reasons, foremost among them the insidious seeds of doubt sown by Nin’tzar and Vezz’et. I have conducted myself with unwavering honesty; something rare enough among our kind to be noted, and I have withheld nothing: not the voice I heard, nor its cryptic request.
The fact that my arrow struck Vezz’et was an accident of combat, unfortunate, yes, but one I claimed without hesitation, and apologized for. And the matter of the young minotaur? I made a swift and necessary decision to spare the creature needless suffering and to protect this group from a potential liability. Do you believe that the beast would forget the scent of those who spared it? I do not. Yet, rather than weigh the choice with any nuance, Nin’tzar and Vezz’et pounced upon it as proof of some imagined treachery. Just because I said a prayer to my Goddess, aloud for all to hear, as I put the minataur to rest. a creature that none of us could communicate with.
Very well. Let them bask in their own righteousness, and let the group breathe free of my shadow, for now. I shall use this time to sharpen both skill and mind. My archery will improve. My designs for the crafting of arrows will be refined. And when your task is done...You’ll find me waiting at the bar. I truly wish you success at the Abbey and a safe journey back to Menzoberranzan.
Linli Speaks:
I hope I didn't do anything to offend you Xarry' Zin. You are an invaluable asset to our party, and I'd be happy to hand over leadership to you if that would make a difference with you staying. Please share why you are leaving and sorry to be blunt but answer me whether we should look for another to replace you. I only say this because without you we are no longer what we were before and hopefully by bringing in another it can substitute a quarter of what you were.
Him leaving will probably anger one of the matron mothers. He may dead already and doesn't even know it.
Jevan speaks:
I would be sorrry to see him go, but must ask, do you plan on returning?
