We start next week with the group eliminating a group of cloud giants in the sky. Success! Your plan is sound and that is to draw others out in hopes of weakening their numbers in the castle. To date it seems to be working!
However, let's see what hapens when the cloud giants recognize that some of their family are no longer returning for dinner!
Kylor Speaks:
It is true that with our current strategy has allowed us to experience some success. I am sure that the cloud giants will soon be altering their approach and making us change our strategy. While I do not think we can avoid entering the castle indefinitely. However, the longer we do and thin the numbers of the cloud giants. Fighting the cloud giants in their home will put us in a severe disadvantage for we do not know what traps or magical protects they have in place. Remember we also still have the elite guards, the leader, the dark kirin and the dragon. The forces that we have faced have been a challenge, and we nearly lost one of our own if not for Taladel having the scroll of raise dead. Seadogs, yel we are the underdogs in this battle but as we have seen working together we can and will be successful. We have accomplished much together, let us continue this trend and do even more… SEADOGS!!
DM Speaks:
As I mentioned a slow tactical approach seems like a good strategy and is one I thought the group might do from the beginning. You have not infiltrated the cloud castle and truly have no idea what is there. In a way you're fighting blind not knowing how many cloud giants are within the castle, what allies they have, what minions they have and what defenses (magical or otherwise) they have on the perimeter of the castle and inside.
This attack is somewhat like attacking a city on Krinthius. Sure the cloud giants don't have the numbers that a city on Krinthius would have but we can equate 1 cloud giant to at least 20-25 city guards if not more. So, this is quite similar if you really think of it.
I know there was some discussion of secretly infiltrating the castle by a few. I'm not saying that's a good or bad decision but on the good side it can gain valuable information but on the other end could mean character death before the final battle.
Exciting and post away to give me excitement for the upcoming game! In the end I know the group can do it, but the rolls and your decisions have to be spot on. I'll admit I think you're the underdog but underdogs have won many times before! As DM I'm impressed with the group eliminating those cloud giant scouts so easily. I know some don't think it was "so easy" but overall as a point of life and death as a group it was.
I think we should employ this strategy as long as we see it bear fruit.
Fighting at the castle gives them the advantage, with the castle defenses and sheer numbers...
Yes we can expect the assault on us to intensify as we contunue to thin the ranks...so lets take them to it. and approach the castle hopefully until it is empty as possible and we only have to fight those elite guards and the leader alone!
So far so well. But it will get harder, the longer we keep up this tactic. At some point we will have to approach the castle. And by then, they will know something is up. And there are a serious threat, in there domain. You know that wont send all of there forces, to hunt us. They will probably save there most powerful, to defend the castle. But I think we should keep this up, for just a little while longer.
I thought these boys were scary buy I guess u didn't think so? Look pretty scary to me?
