We start next week with the Sea Dogs on their beloved Wicked Wench! For some this stop is not as enjoyable as others but all agree they are safe with Captain Bluebeard and First Mate Queenie Red!
It seems Captain Bluerbeard was anxious for your return as he has work which needs to be done! Captain Bluebeard says the Wicked Wench will be intercepting a ship called the Reek which has a vast amount of cargo aboard. That cargo will be taken!
He doesn't expect battle but wants the group to be prepared in case it does. The group does NOT have to assist in moving the cargo from ship to ship, but they have to keep guard for any action of the Reek crew!
Here is a friendly reminder picture of your Captain and First Mate!
Kylor Speaks:
Avast ye, SeaDogs! The cap-n agree be giv'in a real Pirate task fer us, it will require some heave ho aon our end. 'owever, I be know'in that the seven seas will bless us and our ship. So come me mates lets 'ave faith in our abilities, and our fellow crewmates in being able to complete the task for the cap-n. Me Hearties, we are not no lilly-livered scallywags or some bilge-sucking sons of bicuits eaters, we are the SeaDogs and any who stand in our ways will have our fury and that of the Wicked Wench.
The Great and Power DM posed the following question: Just allow Desicus to do what he wants and there may be no problem. Let him build and establish his churches and temples. What harm is that? Sean Speaking - to provide context for Kylor -
Kylor was born and raised in the dock district until he was abandoned by his mother and father by the age 5. Kylor survived in the dock district as a street rat until the age of 8 when he was taken in by Captain Bluebeard. Kylor's view of one's responsibility is that each person is responsible for themselves (more so if they are alone), to the good of the captain and the Wicked Wench, and now more to the good of the SeaDogs. Kylor does not see that dealing with evil that does not directly affect or impact him as his responsibility; this is for the ones it does. It is not his place to protect the world for the world never protected him; nor did he ever take an oath for that responsibility. Kylor is a pirate, raised to be a pirate loyal to the well-being of the Wicked Wench, its captain, and crew. Kylor is still young and naive in his outlook and he does his best to ensure he makes choices that take in account all of the various outlooks of the SeaDog. In this case, Kylor feels that if Desicus honors the agreement and leaves the SeaDogs alone then Desicus is some other good-doer's responsibility to stop. However, if Desicus does come after Sindrax or any of the SeaDogs...Kylor will give Desicus the fight he seeks. But right now the Captain needs the SeaDogs for a task and so the SeaDogs will do as the Captain asks...
Kylor Speaks: SeaDogs: My friends, I feel that our mission at the Monastery of Souls failed for two main reasons - 1) we were not prepared for an opponent like Desicus, he out-powered and classed us on several fronts. So much so he was able to get us to doubt ourselves.
2) we were not unified at all on our approach to how to handle such an enemy. Despite putting how to handle the situation to a vote, and a majority being reached. The group was not unified. When we have solidarity on a task, each and every time we have victory but once there is doubt and dissonance we fail.
Remember we voted, not to interfere and pursue Desicus... His doings no longer concern us. We have other more pressing tasks ... However, if he comes after Sindrax or any of the SeaDogs... we will give him the fight he seeks.
Captain Bluebeard has given us a task with the Reek. We have cargo to liberate for the good of Captain Bluebeard and the Wicked Wench. The Captain has not yet asked us to do anything against our beliefs, so why would he start now? I am sure the Captain will provide us with more information about the Reek in order to ensure our success.
I hope it's just a threat from Dessicus, which I dont take seriously. I wont mess with him. If he doesnt mess with me. Looking forward to the Reek. Been on land so much. Kind of forgetting what it's like on the water. We did do that great with our last mission for captain. Let's make it up to him. By not screwing anything up with the Reek.
DM Speaks Again:
As players don't feel disheartened by Desicus's escape and "victory". Sometimes the evil guy "wins" and this time he did. However, this was a battle in a war and simply winning this skirmish doesn't consider him the ultimate victor.
It's the Sea Dog's decision as to what to do with regards to him although it may have been easier to move away from it if it weren't for what he promised will happen to Sindrax - DEATH. Knowing he's coming for one of the group members may push the rest to pursue him.
It's up to you but Captain Bluebeard does need some work done and that starts with the Reek!
Taladel speaks:
Who is the crew of this Reek? The Captain must know I cannot take part in theft. If there are questionable folks however, I could turn a blind eye.
But importantly, i must talk to the captain about considering looking at his views of the ways of the world. I have never felt evil from him. And i can feel slivers of good in him. His love and loyalty for Queenie Red are strong and is a prime example of goodness for those he loves. It shows me he is capable of such...
His love for treasure and riches do not make one evil..and he can still enjoy these things taking from the forces of darkness. But i know it will be a long and tough road. I will have to make him see what he perhaps never even thought he was capable of...Righteousness
Mike speaks:
We really could not ask for more or beter. Thanks John!
DM Speaks Again:
With that being said the mission at the Monastery was not a success. Desicus has moved on and plans to build or topple other churches, monasteries and temples to his will. Maybe this has no interference with the group, but simply knowing what he plans to do may be an issue for some. Should you try and eliminate Desicus or are you worried with his power, strength and divine connection? I see both as reasonable thoughts!
Also, your Captain seems to have work ahead for ya'! That may be priority! THE REEK!
