Classic Module to be Played

Which of these classic modules would you like to play in our game pretty much as written besides the necessary rule changes needed.

C1 The Hidden Shrine of Tomoachan
EX2 Land Beyond the Magic Mirror
T1-4 The Temple of Elemental Evil
S3 Expedition to Barrier Peaks

I have a strong opinion on which one I'd like to play and at some point, it WILL happen, but I'd love to hear your thoughts! Now, some of you may not be familiar with these modules but they are some of the most iconic and core modules ever written. You might be unfamiliar with what each is about, but I'd have to believe that most have at least heard of the module names.

Out of all of these modules the only one I am familiar with. Temple of elemental evil. I dont even know what the rest of them are.

Land beyond the magic mirror sounds cool.

My choice would be "Land Beyond the Magic Mirror". I don't remember the details of the module but do recall the connection to Alice in Wonderland. I recall it being a bit silly without doubt but also quite dangerous. My biggest issue would be miniatures for the very unique creatures as a large number are with unique individuals or creatures which do not have miniature representation (the Bandersnatch, and the Walrus and the Carpenter) - click on the creature to see it. It's also said that if you are going to run this you should run Dungeonland first (EX1) as the Land Beyond the Magic Mirror (EX2) makes reference to events and things that happen in the first part of the adventure.

This could be a decent Bandersnatch however, I do see the problem is the cost and time of preparing the minis since there are so many unique and crazy individuals

Love that Walrus Guy (Etsy, Ebay or somewhere else) and thanks for taking the time to look into this! The Bandersnatch is like a lion with human hands. If I snipped the spikes on the back and did some modification it could work. Imagine trying to find the jubjub bird in the same picture!!

The other point is investing the money in very unique minis for a 1x use. Cost is important with this. If only a few minis were needed then paying $30 or so would be ok, but if you need 20+ then it could be costly for a 1 run module and mini use. The 2 I listed are only a couple of examples. There are things such as automated Alice, troves, raths, borogroves, etc. These are not your typical minis to be had in a collection. It's something which would require work but does pique my interest. If I get close to running it, I'll get your help in locating the needed minis Sean 😉

There are also snarks in the module, and I wasn't even sure what they were so when I looked them up, I said "damn, that would be a task to get a horde of these unique minis". I could represent them with a variety of different minis I have but that might take away from their use in the future in a more required scenario. Fun discussion.

Snark: They are described as unimaginable creatures. There are different varieties of snarks. Some having feathers and bite and others having whiskers and scratch.

Don't let the minis get in the way...you could use stand in minis that are close...and share the pics as you do with npcs....

both of these have special memories for me, but I never got to play them

My preferred picks are below. I remember purchasing EX2 and reading it many times. It was so different compared to other modules. T1-4 would also be super cool and Viceak’s preferred choice. Has Dessicus taken ownership of another temple? We played C1 when we were younger and it was enjoyable. Big fan of the cover art! I was never a fan of S3, for I always felt the sci-fi theme didn’t resonate with me. It also was not a good fit for any of the D&D settings.

That's a mega-module with battle galore. It's one that would last longer than the current Night Crawler Estate mission you're currently on. It's 128 pages! I'd love to run it, but I think after this current mega-adventure I'm going to look for something a little easier. I can only imagine how many minis, stat blocks and printed pages it would need to be played. WE WILL play it as I love this module but in fairness, I'm looking to run something a bit easier with say 32 pages which many of the older modules are. I listed it as I have great interest and was curious if any of you did as well. If there was then I'd invest the time to run it properly.
