This was brought up as a point of interest and I think is a good question. What happens if a player misses a game with their searching? I have a pretty simple and direct answer but since it was brought up for discussion, I thought it was best to post here on the boards. Please post your thoughts on what should happen if a player misses a game and their room search falls way behind.
Obviously if a player does miss it will hinder them tremendously in their room search and opportunity to win and inherit the estate.
DECISION:
If a player misses a game:
We will take the average # of rooms searched by all other players and allow the player that missed the game to have searched that many. However, it will NOT be a room which has a needed item on the list. These need to be found in person. They will simply miss exploring rooms which could have been beneficial or harmful but did not have an item on the list.
I wonder what happens if Someone Misses a Game During the Night Crawler Room Search ??
I like Kylior’s suggestion , similar to what I suggested the other night when we spoke outside.
To be so far behind with no possibility of catching up doesn’t seem really fair. It’s not like an extra game (NPC or monster battle)
Shouldn’t really be penalized for taking some time for vacation etc.
We need to remember the game is recreational fun. We all goto have a good time and blow off steam.
If you miss a game and are behind 10-14 rooms. Will be more almost impossible to catch and really at the point why bother attending the game till the Night Crawlee mission is done. At least with the penalty you have a chance to catch up
Like I said the other night , I might probably be the first to test the rule set forth. I will be missing the game on Wed 5/29
Maybe will be wrapped up by then perhaps not.
Just providing my two cents
I say take the average of the rooms searched and divide by half to determine the number of the sided dice to roll. (For example: 14 rooms searched then the person who missed rolls a 1d6+1 to determine how many rooms they searched.) The rooms searched should take 1d6+3 turns. Remove just rooms that don't have items if that is possible. Items should only be gained in person.
two choices:
1 award something average and fair in terms of item found, and rounds spent. Maybe give one item and 20 rounds spent to keep them in this thing
or
2. you are beat...better not miss a game.
but if someone misses a game due to something unavoidable...they are out of it and interest in this will wane for them for quite a while...
