I think I make many awesome looking minis using disection of others and I think my paints on many are pretty nice. However, there are some that I've created and/or painted that have been sitting on my desk forever because they just look so odd, horrible or simply silly from what I've done with them. Everytime I look at them I try and come up with a new idea but they all fail. These minis are my "desk savers" that are praying to one day be acceptable and hit the table but I'm not sure that will ever be. Instead of keeping these disasters to myself I've decided to show you the other end of my painting and creations. The ABOMINATIONS OF EMBARRASSMENT! I hope you enjoy the fun!

#4) The Unknown Abomination
This mini became what it is because of some un known reason. I had this tutrle mini which I had no need for. So, I went in my bin of "parts" (this is a place where I have all cut up pieced of minis that I've ragaed before for some purpose). In this bin there are many heads, arms, legs, metal parts, torsos, wands and all sorts of other pieces. So having this extra turtle I decided to make it some aline mutation. I cut off its fouir legs and added whetever I had in my parts bin as an added appendage. This is what it is and where I left off as I just couldn't comfortably place something like this down on our table.
#3) The Winged Construct with a Sword
So this guy started as an Awesome Andy mini (I'll attach that pic as well) if any of you are familiar with the character. He's a fictional character in many Marvel comics. His appearance is very distict as he has a square flat head which is so recognizable. I liked the mini in size and appearance but everytime I tried reapainting him Justin would say "oh that's awesome andy"! I figured if he saw this others at the table might.
He was actually involved in this adventure but I pulled him because I just did not like my end result in modification. Wait to see and hear what the mods were. Fist, I added a sword in his hand. I also added spiraling blades to the side of the sword and painted it crazy purple. This is Awesome Andy so he must have an awesome sword in his reincarnation. I then went really balistic and said what about wings!? So I added them! I also thought that I'd make him some golem and painted him GOLD! So now, I have Mr. Awesome Andy in Gold with Wings and a Purple Sword? Not sure what I was thinking but who knows. Oh, one more major thing about him is his recognizable head shape so I took an exacto knife and cut it up making it into something........odd shaped!
Original Mini
#1) The Goose and Horse
I received the horse as an extra mini from something I bought. I had no need for another horse as I have about 30 all painted in various colors so what the hell am I going to do with this horse? Well I decided to first try some crazy color on it, but didn't love it (I may go back to that again after detaching the duck). So, I I also had this goose mini and really don't need a goose on the table so I thought.....why not make it an intelligent goose controlling, communicating and friends with the horse. Maybe even controlling it. So I painted the goose golden thinking of the golden goose in the fairy tale. Then I got stupid and painted the feet and tail blue? WHAT! Well I guess it is a magical goose I was thinking. I then thought why not pauint the horse hooves blue as well. That would be great - NOT. So now I have this golden goose sitting on my horse waiting for something to happen. I will seperate them at some point but then have to do somehting special with their paint schedm. I just haven't figurerd ouy what yet.
#2) The Ogre and Goblin Rider
The ogre is a neat sculpt and so is the goblin, but I decided I wanted to do something crazy and make something like LotR where creatures were riding the larger monsters. Well I tried.
First, why rocks on top? I have no idea but the truth is the basket was just one big empty space. Something had to be done and I thought maybe the ogre would grab these and toss them at enemies? The paint is very bland but I gave up on detailed painting when I felt the mini was silly. I added the goblin rider after because I was unsure the ogre could actually reach the stones. Yeah, he could be a slave ogre or something but I just wasn't feeling it. Why is there blood on the stones? Who knows, but I was shooting for something to make this mini acceptable. It has yet to reach that mark! Youo tell me what you think and be harsh if you feel as all attempts at a masterpice do not get to the point! This is my first mini creation and paint which has yet to be allowed entry into a mini box! Ejoy the fun to come.
